Members of Shilpa Shetty’s fan club took to the streets raising anti-Gere slogans, while protesters burned and kicked effigies of Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty after footage of Gere repeatedly kissing Shilpa during an Aids Awareness program aired on news channels on Monday. Many saw the act as an outrage against Shetty’s modesty and culture. Some protesters called for the actors’ deaths, while others called for a public apology.
